In the fall of 2018, I started out on a new adventure. Looking back, I can see it is an adventure of a lifetime for me. Alongside my husband, I bought a farm. As a proud co-owner of Two Oaks Ranch, I help tend to our Angus cattle, care for a dozen mixed-breed chickens, maintain a greenhouse, and chase two very mischievous dogs around.
It’s an after-the-day job gig, but we absolutely love it. Unless you’ve stood on my back porch, staring out at the back pasture, calves running around with their tails in the air, you may not understand. Yes, it’s a lot of extra work, but I’m connected to nature in a way I’ve never been before.
Flash forward two years and this link to the land is refreshing my mind and drawing me back to a long-held dream of writing a book. My grandmother was a writer. My aunt tells me Grandma used her writing skills to help put my aunt through college. The bug seems to have skipped a generation, but my generation has the itch in spades.
Join me as I craft stories inspired by my life on the farm. Perhaps your input will inspire the next character, story, or ending. Who knows, you might even get a character named after you. As the people I’ve blogged about, if you can tell who they are, I always treat my friends kind in my writing.
